From idea to project, in a few steps.

A simple workflow to prepare your next cut.

  1. Design

Choose a box and its dimensions.

  2. Configure

    Adjust thickness and finger joints.

  3. Download

Prepare your SVG or DXF files.

  4. Make

Check the settings for your material and machine.

PRACTICAL GUIDES

Understanding the process also improves the cut.

Short explanations to help you make better decisions before sending a file to the machine.

01

What is kerf?

The laser removes a thin strip of material as it cuts. This width is called kerf and directly affects how joints and parts fit.

02

From SVG to your first cut

Before cutting, check scale, units, duplicate lines, layers and machine settings. A correct file saves material and time.

03

Internal and external dimensions

Deciding which dimension to preserve avoids errors when material thickness changes the usable volume or final size of a box.

BEFORE YOU START

Frequently asked questions.

What is Obra Láser?

It is a project offering tools, resources and content for design and fabrication with laser cutting.

How do I create a box for laser cutting?

Open the Obra Láser box generator, choose a module, set the dimensions and prepare the vector for download.

Do I need to install software?

Not to use the available web tools. Some production steps may require control or editing software, depending on your machine and workflow.

Do I need an account?

You do not need to register to start using the generator at this stage. We will add new features and user options later.

What is kerf or cut width?

It is the small amount of material removed by the beam during cutting. Measuring and compensating for it helps achieve more precise dimensions and joints.
